gears for the food industry

In food production, every detail counts. All our machines are designed and manufactured with hygiene and performance in mind. Stagnoli specialises in the design and production of plastic gears for food machinery, and it fits perfectly into this context: it has developed a line of gears for the food industry that are specifically designed to guarantee high safety standards.

Small components, great importance

Gears in the food industry are real strategic elements underlying the operation of machines such as:

  • Packaging machines (vertical and horizontal)
  • Dosing and filling machines for solids and liquids
  • Belt and screw conveyor systems
  • Kneaders, mixers, slicers and cutters
  • Cooling and pasteurisation tunnels
  • Automatic washing and sanitising machines

In each of these applications, Stagnoli blue gears, which are used without lubricants, help improve efficiency while reducing the risk of oil and/or grease contamination.

Why blue?

The choice of the colour blue is not by accident: it is a rare hue in food and can be detected easily by the naked eye. This means that, should a fragment accidentally end up in the product, it can be immediately detected during quality control—even with the help of machine vision systems. This is a real advantage, especially in fast-paced or automated production environments.

Robust, safe and silent

Stagnoli gears are made from nylon 6 with 30% fibreglass additive and, alternatively, food-grade polyketone (PK) and polyoxymethylene (POM). These materials offer numerous advantages:

  • Resistance to moisture, grease and sanitising agents
  • Thermal and dimensional stability, even under difficult conditions
  • Self-lubricating properties, so as to avoid the use of oils (a risk in food environments)
  • Silent operation, which is useful in contexts where noise must be avoided

In many cases, these technopolymers prove to be more effective than metal or PEEK, especially when working in environments subject to frequent washing or severe temperature changes.

Certified security

All blue Stagnoli food machinery gears comply with European and US food contact regulations (Reg. EC 1935/2004, Reg. EU 10/2011 and FDA), ensuring traceability and safety for every batch produced.

A fundamental choice

Choosing Stagnoli food gears for your machinery means investing in safety, hygiene and reliability. They are components that work behind the scenes, but contribute every day to the quality of the products that reach our tables.
